As Europan Netherlands, we are exceptionally proud that the vision for this location—originally developed within Europan 14 under the theme Productive Amsterdam—is now evolving into a tangible and future-oriented project. What began as an ambitious and innovative design concept within our European design competition is now taking actual shape, thanks to the expert collaboration between AHAM VastgoedVan Os & Van den Berg, and Bot Bouw, based on the design by UP4 (winner E14) and Studio Ninedots.

With De Teunis, a place is being created where urban living, working, and entrepreneurship come together naturally. In this way, the original Europan assignment remains remarkably relevant: developing a productive, mixed-use, and inclusive city that offers space for both economic activity and a high quality of life.

De Teunis proves the unique power of the Europan program. It demonstrates that Europan is not just an ideas competition, but a strategic catalyst that sets complex spatial challenges in motion and connects them to concrete realization. This project is the ultimate proof of how innovative architecture, programmatic renewal, and social impact go hand in hand—from competition idea to built reality.

We wish all parties involved the best of luck with the realization of this special project, and we look forward to the construction and further development of De Teunis!

Kop Dakpark, Rotterdam – living in a green oasis http://www.europan.nl/kop-dakpark-rotterdam-living-in-a-green-oasis/ Sat, 16 May 2026 14:38:52 +0000 https://www.europan.nl/?p=5600

Congratulations on reaching the highest point in the construction of Kop Dakpark at the entrance of Rotterdam-West.

As Europan Netherlands, we are exceptionally proud that the vision for this location—originally developed within Europan 15 under the theme Productive Cities—is now evolving into a tangible and future-oriented project. What began as a bold, award-winning competition entry by the Spanish architectural firm H3O Architects is now taking actual shape, thanks to the expert collaboration with INBO, Woonstad Rotterdam, Dijk&co Landschapsarchitectuur, and Slokker Bouwgroep.

Nature-inclusive living in a green oasis

This outstanding apartment complex with 153 affordable homes serves as a prominent green icon at the head of the Dakpark. Together, INBO and h3o Architects have seamlessly translated the Europan philosophy into a residential building that actively contributes to local biodiversity and the surrounding flora and fauna.

Serving as the missing link between a vibrant residential neighborhood and an upcoming makers district, the project successfully bridges the gap between urban living and nature. It perfectly delivers on the original Europan challenge: creating an intergenerational, highly productive, and nature-inclusive urban environment that functions as a catalyst for social cohesion.

From competition idea to built reality, this project is the ultimate proof of how innovative architecture, biodiversity, and social impact go hand in hand. It proves that Europan goes far beyond a mere contest of concepts, serving as a powerful catalyst that turns challenging vacant urban spaces into active, practical answers for both housing shortages and environmental sustainability. In doing so, Kop Dakpark highlights the unique, transformative power of the Europan program.

We wish all parties involved the best of luck with the further realization of this extraordinary project, and we look forward to the completion and future of Kop Dakpark!

E18_AWARDS http://www.europan.nl/e18_awards/ Wed, 21 Jan 2026 09:21:38 +0000 https://www.europan.nl/?p=5380

The municipality of Amersfoort is the host city for the Europan18 session in the Netherlands, centred on the theme Re_sourcing. In close collaboration with local stakeholders, the Europan process in Amersfoort explores how existing spatial, social, material and institutional resources can be re-activated and re-interpreted to address contemporary urban challenges. Within this framework, the competition invited design teams to engage with the specific conditions and potentials of the Amersfoort context.

The Europan process commenced in August 2024, with the official launch of the competition in February 2025 and site visits taking place in March 2025. The process generated a strong international response, resulting in a wide range of design proposals addressing the Re_sourcing theme. Following two jury sessions held in September and October 2025, after the jury deliberations, prize winners and special mentions were selected.

The awards ceremony will take place in Amersfoort, where representatives of the municipality will announce the winners and the jury will reflect on the outcomes and key themes of the session. Winning teams, runners-up and special mention teams will subsequently meet with project leaders to discuss possible follow-up trajectories and implementation perspectives.
